The tongue and pulse are analyzed in accordance with Ayurvedic principles and are important diagnostic tools in Chinese and Western medicine to diagnose the health status of a patient and to envision the root cause of a disease. A tongue analysis offers observable, objective information about the state of blood circulation, hydration, digestion, energy levels, and so much more. The patterns of a tongue can reveal the functional status of respective internal organs merely by observing the surface. A discoloration or sensitivity of a particular area of the tongue indicates a disorder in the organ corresponding to that area as the tongue is devised into sections of the organ systems throughout the body. Each area of the tongue corresponds to the Acupuncture meridians where your vital energy or Qi (pronounced “chee”) flows through, and the internal organ systems themselves. Pulse diagnosis is based on another microsystem with internal organs represented on the wrists. The quality of your pulse offers a great deal of information about your overall health. Chinese pulse reading is based on rate, depth, and force. Every organ's status can be monitored by the quality of the pulse.
